In a nutshell, Buffy Summers is The Slayer. A Chosen One destined to help mankind battle against the forces of darkness, plucked from her old life as a high school fashion queen and dumped into the murky world of vampires, demons and other things with more teeth than feels strictly necessary.

After seven long years fighting back the darkness in Sunnydale, California, home to one of the Hellmouths (gateways into the underworld and beacons for all kinds of nasty), Buffy's work there was completed by two major events.

First, the 'activation' of all the Potential Slayers in the world by means of her wicca friend Willow's powerful spell (Potentials being girls who will be called as Slayers one day when the previous one dies), and next the destruction of Sunnydale and the Hellmouth in one ground-swallowing apocalypse.

Relocating to Cleveland for Season Eight in order to take on that town's Hellmouth, Buffy quickly found that a world filled with Slayers didn't mean any less work for her. The handsome realtor Jackson Shaw started to work his way into her life, both by day and by night out on patrol, and with deaths and arrivals for the Scooby Gang throughout the year, it was a testing time for one and all...
